142 NEW CASES, WEDNESDAY

No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 559, according to today's announcement by the Ministry of Health.

At the same time, as stated in the announcement, 142 (positivity rate: 0.31%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 121,842.

According to the announcement, 63 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 25 are in serious condition. 62.69% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination. 10 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.

A total of 46,145 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

Today's results are detailed.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 559, of which:

  • 354 men (63%), and
  • 205 women (37%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.2 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 63 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 25 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 25 patients who are in serious condition, nine are intubated, two are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 14 in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail, the situation in the hospitals is the following:

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 46,145 diagnoses performed, 4,548 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 41,597 by the antigen rapid test method, 142 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 35 cases from 375 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 2 cases from 2,170 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 28 cases from 1,590 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 6 cases from 220 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 52 cases from 20,697 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 19 cases from 20,900 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 193 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
