134 NEW CASES, SATURDAY

There have been 134 new positive cases of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, while no death was recorded, according to the Ministry of Health.

Specifically:

  • No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 557.
  • 60 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 23 are in serious condition. 60% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
  • 11 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
  • A total of 46,046 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 134 (positivity rate: 0.29%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 121,270.

Today's results are detailed.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 557, of which:

  • 354 men (64%), and
  • 203 women (36%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.3 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 60 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 23 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 23 patients who are in serious condition, 11 are intubated in an Intensive Care Unit and 12 in an Increased Care Unit.

Γ. Θετικά περιστατικά COVID-19 (PCR test και rapid test αντιγόνου):

Of the 46,046 diagnoses performed, 4,606 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 41,440 by the antigen rapid test, 134 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 3 cases from 24 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 14 cases from 2,543 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 41 cases from 1,861 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 4 cases from 166 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 46 cases from 31,479 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 26 cases from 9,961 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 11 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 1 sample taken as part of a closed structure check.
