129 NEW CASES, THURSDAY

No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 552, according to the Ministry of Health's announcement. At the same time, as stated in today's announcement, 129 (positivity rate: 0.21%) new cases of COVID-19 have been identified from molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 120,272.


79 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 34 are in serious condition. 66.27% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.

11 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.

A total of 62,295 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

Today's results are detailed.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 552, of which:

  • 350 men (63%), and
  • 202 women (37%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.4 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 79 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 34 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 34 patients who are in serious condition, 14 are intubated, three are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 17 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail, the situation in the hospitals is the following:

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 62,295 diagnoses performed, 5,339 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 56,956 by the antigen rapid test method, 129 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 39 cases from 357 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 3 cases from 2,350 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 20 cases from 2,334 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 8 cases from 225 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 52 cases from 36,250 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 7 cases from 20,706 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's program.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 73 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
