109 NEW CASES, THURSDAY [Bank holiday]

No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 571, according to the Ministry of Health's announcement.

59 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 18 are in serious condition. 57.63% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.

4 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.

109 (positivity rate: 0.45%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 24,193 tests for detecting the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 124,017.

It is worth noting that the majority of cases and the highest positivity rate were detected in the samples examined with the antigen rapid test method, through the free rapid test program of the Ministry of Health, as 44 cases were identified from 7,481 tests.

Today's results are detailed.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 571, of which:

  • 363 men (64%), and
  • 208 women (36%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.1 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 59 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 18 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 18 patients who are in serious condition, eight are intubated, two are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and eight are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 24,193 diagnoses performed, 3,242 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 20,951 by the antigen rapid test method, 109 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 8 cases from 93 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 7 cases from 1,860 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 28 cases from 1,159 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 2 cases from 96 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 20 cases out of 13,470 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 44 cases from 7,481 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 34 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
