The Ministry of Education calls on parents/guardians to arrange for the vaccination of their children, recalling that with the implementation of the GHS, the School Health Service no longer carries out vaccines in schools and the vaccination of children has been undertaken by the personal doctor/ paediatrician of each child except in the case of non-beneficiaries of GHS enrolment.
According to the current vaccination coverage scheme of the Ministry of Health for children and adolescents, the age of 11-12 years is the appropriate age for the administration of the following vaccines:
- vaccine of Tetanus, Diphtheria and Tdap adult, and
- human papillomavirus vaccine (HPV)
At the age of 4-6 years, children, according to the recommendations of the current vaccination coverage scheme of the Ministry of Health, are expected to have been vaccinated with the following vaccines:
- diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis and polio (DTaP-IPV) vaccine,
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccine
- chickenpox vaccine (Var)
In the case of non-GHS enrolment beneficiaries, vaccinations are carried out at the Maternity Protection and Welfare Centres of the Child.
