The inauguration of the new building of the Pafos School Ephorate, which was renovated by the Municipality of Pafos, will be held by the Minister of Education, Prodromos Prodromos, today at 6.00 in the afternoon. The building is located in Markos Drakos Square in the center of the city and its complete renovation was undertaken by the Municipality of Pafos, at the expense of the State, in order to permanently house the School Ephorate there.
This arrangement arose after a proposal by the Mayor of Pafos, Phedonas Phaedonos, to the Minister of Education, in order to free up the four classrooms used by the School Ephorate for its accommodation in the Gymnasium of Agios Theodoros.
The benefit for the city is twofold since the transfer of employees to the area contributes to the revitalization of the shopping centre, while at the same time it discharges the Gymnasium of Agios Theodoros, which in recent years faces a serious problem of lack of classrooms.
The Municipality of Pafos received a half-ruined premises and created an excellent building that further upgrades the aesthetic image of the city.
The program of the event includes Sanctification by the Metropolitan of Pafos, Georgios, presentation of the project of restoration and configuration of the building by the Officer of Technical Services of the Municipality of Pafos, Valentina Kontakki, greeting by the President of the Ephorate of Greek Schools of Pafos, Michalis Charalambous, greeting by the Mayor of Pafos, Phaedon Phaedonos, speech by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, Prodromos Prodromos, revelation of the inauguration plaque, songs from a group of the Music School of Pafos under the direction of Socrates Terpizis and an open reception.
