The Contract "Provision of services for the study of the creation of facilities (port and land) for the service of aquaculture farmers in the area of Moni-Vassilikos" was signed yesterday at the Department of Public Works of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works.
In today's announcement, the Ministry of Transport states that the services concern the preparation of a study for the creation of facilities (port and land) to serve the aquaculture farmers in the area of Moni - Vasilikos.
The proposed port is located within the administrative boundaries of the Community of Pentakomo, at a distance of about 3.6 km south of the Community of Pentakomo, 6 km southeast of the Community of Moni and about 5.2 km southwest of the Community of Mari.
The area has been selected after a relevant siting study and a positive opinion from the Environmental Authority.
The main objective of the study is the construction of a port, which includes all the necessary works, infrastructure and electromechanical systems to serve the water farmers in the best possible way that will ensure the smooth and safe operation of all necessary works throughout the year fully integrated into the natural environment.
The port will serve the needs of the aquaculture farmers operating in the Vasilikos area and will include all the necessary services, infrastructure, facilities and equipment to ensure the rational operation of the port while at the same time providing proper and safe service to water farmers, public officials and other users who will operate and /or visit the port throughout the year.
According to the planning of the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research (ICSI), it is requested that the port has the capacity to serve/dock at the same time at least 35 vessels related to the activity of aquaculture.
The project will contribute to the promotion of environmentally sustainable, resource-efficient, innovative and competitive aquaculture.
The Project is co-funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and specifically by the Operational Programme Sea 2014-2020.
The date of commencement of the execution of the Contract Scope comes into force from the moment of signing, with a duration of execution of 10 months and a cost of €111,100.00 plus VAT.
The Contract was signed on behalf of the Department of Public Works by the Director Antonis Koutsoulis and on behalf of the Consortium "Dion. Toumazis & Associates L.L.C. and Rogan & Associates S.A." Dr. Antonis Toumazis.
