A meeting with the Minister of Health, Mr. Chatzipandelas, and the General Director of the Ministry, Mrs. Yiannaki, was held yesterday by the Member of Parliament for Pafos of DISY, Charalambos Pazaros.
Speaking to "F", the DISY MP pointed out that within the next few months, a complete renovation of its building facilities and the creation and expansion of more wards will take place at Paphos Hospital.
"As I mentioned to the Minister, Paphos hospital operated in 1992, without any substantial renovation or upgrade having been made to date", he pointed out. "The needs have changed to such an extent that it is unable to serve even the basic needs of citizens. It is also necessary to include double patient rooms in the design."
During the meeting, Mr. Pazaros also stressed, the Minister of Health announced the hiring of an Endocrinologist, Haematologist and Dietitian, the purchase of a new X-ray panoramic X-ray machine, at least one more gynaecological ultrasound, a new DEXA for osteoporosis test and an ophthalmic telescope.
"For the Hospital of Polis Chrysochous," he said, "there will be funds for repairs, renovation, reopening of the chambers and the recruitment of a cardiologist, pathologist, radiologist and chemist."
The provision of high health services by the state should be superior to other funds and be a priority, concluded Charalambos Pazaros, assuring that he will work towards solving the serious problems of Pafos Hospital as a matter of priority.
