The Domestic Tourism Support Plan takes over from today the baton from the Subsidized Summer Vacation Program of the Deputy Ministry, which expired yesterday, and will continue until the end of November, offering the opportunity to vaccinated compatriots for subsidized holidays and overnight stays, in the context of strengthening domestic tourism and the hotel industry, which continues to be affected due to the pandemic.
The new additions to the plan, compared to the lists last June, exceed 35, as we were told by a representative of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism. According to information, some have chosen to participate until November, while some have chosen only for September – October. Details of the project and the lists of accommodation per province participating in it can be found on the website of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism. It is noted that the second invitation to participate in the project was made at the request of hoteliers, who had not expressed interest in the past, but having seen the benefits of their participation in the Subsidized Summer Vacation Program, they had second thoughts. In the plan for the summer holidays, the number of units that participated again amounted to around 220, that is, the number of units that now numbers the Domestic Tourism Support Plan.
Beneficiaries of the Scheme are all permanent residents of the island, who:
They have been vaccinated with at least one dose. For people 12-16 years old, who have not been vaccinated, they should ensure proof of a negative rapid antigen detection test for the COVID-19 disease, with sampling having been carried out within 72 hours.
They have recovered from the virus up to 180 days before their stay at the accommodation.
For the above, beneficiaries must provide, in printed form, the relevant proofs upon arrival at the accommodation of their choice.
The beneficiaries and the cost of accommodation in the participating units
It is noted that the Domestic Tourism Support Scheme includes accommodations that offer a maximum price of €60 (including VAT) for a double room, with breakfast, per day, with a minimum stay of two nights. The scheme subsidizes the coverage of 35% of the cost of accommodation by the Deputy Ministry, for as many days as the beneficiary chooses to stay overnight, but with a minimum stay of two days.
The subsidy also covers charges for children. That is, if one books an overnight stay for four nights in a hotel that participates in the project and offers the maximum price of €60, you will pay instead of €240 only €156.
The Scheme aims, above all, to encourage holidays in Cyprus, through:
(a) the provision of affordable prices by tourist accommodation establishments,
(b) the grant of part of the cost of accommodation to the citizens who will make use of it.
For holidays throughout beautiful Cyprus, the public can communicate directly with the tourist accommodation of their choice or with the tourist offices to make a reservation.
