One death and 223 new cases of COVID-19 was announced today Monday by the Ministry of Health.
One person died of COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 516.
139 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 41 are in serious condition. 82.74% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
17 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
A total of 74,092 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
223 (positivity rate: 0.30%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 116,991.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The person who died with the final cause of death attributed to the COVID-19 disease, concerns a man, aged 55, who ended up on September 5th in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
As a result, the total number of deaths with COVID-19 as the ultimate cause is 516, of which: 334 men (65%), and 182 women (35%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.4 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 139 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 41 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 41 patients who are in serious condition, 17 are intubated, five are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 19 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 74,092 diagnoses made today, 6,237 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 67,855 by the antigen rapid test method, 223 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 13 cases from 116 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 6 cases from 2,943 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 37 cases from 2,720 samples taken through private initiative.
- 4 cases from 252 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1 case from 206 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
- 119 cases from 47,390 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 43 cases from 20,465 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.

134 incidents in the occupied territories
A total of 134 new coronavirus cases were announced Monday in the occupied territories out of a total of 14,179 tests in the last 24 hours. Of these 5 came from abroad, 42 are contacts of already confirmed cases and 87 are local transmissions. 33 were found in occupied Nicosia, 22 in occupied Kyrenia, 25 in occupied Famagusta, 3 in occupied Morfou and 4 in Trikomo.
