159 NEW CASES, FOUR DEATHS - Monday

Four people have died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 532, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

107 patients COVID-19 are hospitalized, of which 45 are in serious condition. 82.25% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.

10 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.

A total of 76,913 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

159 (positivity rate: 0.21%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 118,090.

Today's results are detailed.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The four people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concern:

  • A woman, aged 66, who ended up on September 12th in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
  • A man, aged 73, who ended up on September 12th in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
  • A man, aged 84, who ended up today at Larnaka General Hospital.
  • A woman, aged 89, who ended up today at the Famagusta General Hospital.

As a result, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 532, of which:

  • 341 men (64%), and
  • 191 women (36%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.4 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 107 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 45 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 45 patients who are in serious condition, 19 are intubated, one is hospitalized in an Off-Ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 25 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 76,913 diagnoses made today, 5,111 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 71,802 by the antigen rapid test method, 159 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 14 cases from 215 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 5 cases from 2,679 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 26 cases from 1,694 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 7 cases from 279 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 82 cases from 50,693 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 25 cases from 21,109 samples tested with the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 244 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
