156 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH - MONDAY

One person died of COVID-19 on Monday, while 156 new cases (positivity rate of 0.24%) were diagnosed and 93 patients are hospitalized, of which 40 are in serious condition. 76.35% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.

According to the Ministry of Health, eight post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.

A total of 64,474 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test. 156 new cases were identified (positivity rate of 0.24%) from molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 119,113.

The person who died with the final cause of death attributed to covid-19, concerns a woman, aged 92, who ended up yesterday, September 19 at Famagusta General Hospital. The total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 548, of which 349 are men (64%) and 199 are women (36%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.3 years.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The one person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concerns:

  • A woman, aged 92, who ended up on September 19 at Famagusta General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 548, of which:

  • 349 men (64%), and
  • 199 women (36%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.3 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 93 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 40 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 40 patients who are in serious condition, 13 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an Off-Ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 23 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail, the situation in the hospitals is the following:

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 64,474 diagnoses performed, 6,094 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 58,380 by the antigen rapid test method, 156 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 13 cases from 307 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 9 cases from 3,167 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 22 cases from 2,156 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 5 cases from 221 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 75 cases from 36,963 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 32 cases from 21,417 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 241 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 2 samples taken from the control of closed structures.
