117 NEW CASES - Tuesday

In the 117 new positive cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Cyprus according to the announcement of the Ministry of Health.

Specifically:

  • No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 548.
  • 94 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 39 are in serious condition. 73.41% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
  • 10 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
  • A total of 53,935 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 117 (positivity rate: 0.22%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 119,230.

Today's results are detailed.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 548, of which:

  • 349 men (64%), and
  • 199 women (36%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.3 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 94 patients of the COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 39 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 39 patients who are in serious condition, 16 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 21 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 53,935 diagnoses performed, 5,904 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 48,031 by the antigen rapid test method, 117 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 17 cases from 229 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 7 cases from 2,697 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 28 cases from 2,378 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 5 cases from 253 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 38 cases from 29,129 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 22 cases from 18,902 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 345 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 2 samples taken from the control of closed structures.
