New covid-19 cases are at low levels, while no patient deaths were recorded, with covid-19 as the final cause of death, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 548.

Specifically, a total of 50,579 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test, of which 106 (positivity rate: 0.21%) of the disease were identified.

According to an announcement by the Ministry, 89 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 40 are in serious condition. 74.16% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.

10 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.

Today's results are detailed.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 548, of which:

  • 349 men (64%), and
  • 199 women (36%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.3 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 89 patients of covid-19 are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 40 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 40 patients who are in serious condition, 15 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 23 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 50,579 diagnoses performed, 5,539 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 45,040 by the antigen rapid test method, 106 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 12 cases from 218 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 1 case from 2,654 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 28 cases from 2,245 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 7 cases from 222 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 34 cases from 23,451 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies
  • 24 cases from 21,589 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.

In addition, the following tests were carried out without detection of a case:

  • 199 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 1 sample taken from the closed structures test.
