The case that was revealed today at the Pafos Police Department is unprecedented. Two members of the force were arrested and detained on suspicion of involvement in a case of sending messages to the Pafos Police Director threatening him and the lives of members of his family.
Information from "F" reports that the case of threats against the Pafos Police Director, Nikos Pentaras, has been under consideration for three years, when a specific person was arrested at Paphos airport for warrants pending against him. The same person was recently re-arrested at Larnaca Airport for the same reasons and based on testimonies and other evidence, the authorities were examining his involvement in the case of threatening messages received by the Pafos Police Director.
Recently, however, evidence appears to have emerged of the involvement in the case and two members serving in the Pafos Police Department, which are being investigated whether they are connected to the person who is also suspected of the threats against Mr. Pentaras. He is being dealt with in cases of written threats, sending abusive and threatening messages, conspiracy to commit a felony and abuse of power.
The two police officers will be brought before the Pafos District Court tomorrow for issuing detention orders, while they have already been suspended on the instructions of the Chief of Police until the full examination of the case.
Investigations are continuing at an intensive pace.
