People over the age of 65, as well as immunosuppressed and transplanted people, will be given the booster dose of the coronavirus vaccine in Cyprus, although during the meeting held this morning at the Ministry of Health, no date was set for the start of vaccinations.
The booster dose will be given to those persons of these categories who complete six months from the day of receipt of the second dose of the vaccine. For example, an 80-year-old person who was vaccinated in July will not be vaccinated with a third dose now.
As far as this procedure is concerned, it will probably take place "automatically", since in all likelihood the practice of arranging appointments by the citizens themselves will not be followed.
MRNA-type vaccines will be administered and more information on the start and manner of administration of the vaccines will be given in the coming days.
The decisions of the meeting are expected to be included in a proposal, which the Minister of Health, Michalis Hadjipandelas, will put before the Ministry for approval on Thursday, provided that there is no legal impediment. In this respect, the Attorney General will be consulted on this matter.
