THE NEW CHURCH OF ST EPHRAIM IN TALA IS TAKING SHAPE

Filenews 16 August 2021 - by Dora Christodoulou

The new church of St. Ephraim, in the area of the Monastery of Agios Neophytos in Tala, entered the construction stage. The construction works regarding the retaining works of the temple, five meters high, were completed and now the temple itself has been "raised" and shaped with the dome and the other details of the building, which now give visitors a clear picture of what the new temple will look like upon its completion.

The new church, already visited by dozens of believers daily before its completion and operation, has been visited by crowds of believers from other areas of the island in the last three days because of the holidays, resulting in an unusual traffic congestion in the area since within walking distance is the Monastery of Agios Neophytos, which also attracted a large number of visitors.

The project is completed thanks primarily to the selfless work of people such as the civil engineer Anthimos Ioannou, from Tala who undertook the Static Study and supervision of the whole project and the architectural firm Ioakim and Loizas that prepared the architectural plans.

And of course, the progress of the works brings to everyone's memory Alexios Arimandritis, the "soul" of the whole project, who died in June from coronavirus before he could see his vision fully completed.
