The Ministry of Health recalls that, according to the current Ordinance, the maximum number of people who can be in dining areas, nightclubs, banquet halls, music clubs and other entertainment venues is determined as follows:
Interiors:
· 250 people with a required SafePass presentation, OR
· 450 people, provided that all persons are fully vaccinated or have been treated with COVID-19 in the last 6 months and hold a certificate of recovery.
Exterior:
· 350 people with a required SafePass presentation, OR
· 500 people, provided that all persons are fully vaccinated or have been treated with COVID-19 in the last 6 months and hold a certificate of recovery.
It is stressed that the maximum number applies to the whole premises and no different provision may apply to the interior and exterior. For example, a premises cannot accommodate 250 people indoors with SafePass and 500 people outside with a certificate of recovery or vaccination.
It should be clarified that if an undertaking/premises wishes to operate both its interior and exterior at the same time, it should do so by analogy and in accordance with the above, so that the maximum number of persons present at the same time in the business/premises (indoor and outdoor space) does not exceed 500 persons in total. For example, provided that a business operates with SafePass, it can accommodate regulars both indoors and outdoors, provided that the maximum number of 250 people inside and 350 outside is respected, with the total number of persons not exceeding 500. It is understood that all other guidelines of the relevant protocol are complied with.
Excludes premises where events such as weddings and christenings are organised, where different arrangements may apply if the events are independent and separate. For example, there may be a christening dinner in the interior and a wedding dinner in the outdoor area, with the corresponding maximum number of persons. In the case of the same event, the above guidelines shall be complied with.
It should be noted that companies/premises which choose to accommodate only citizens who have been vaccinated or have been sick for the last 6 months should ensure that they indicate in a prominent place in their business/premises, as well as inform citizens of their decision.
The owner/manager of the premises/enterprise must inform the Ministry of Health in writing that only fully vaccinated persons or persons who have a certificate of recovery from COVID-19 in the last six months will be accepted in his premises. The update shall be sent to the E-healthservices@mphs.moh.gov.cy.
