The beginning of the new parliamentary term from next month will have a "scent" of Athens for the Pafos district. The massive demand of institutions and citizens for Pafos Airport to be included in the planning of air carriers and the state for a route to Athens, will take an organized form within the Parliament.
The four MPs of Pafos will jointly raise this request as their first joint presence on the benche. Already, the issue was raised before the holidays by the only MP of the province who was also a member of the previous Parliament, Elias Myrianthous of EDEK, but now it will be raised jointly in order to reveal the importance that the issue acquires for Paphos.
Although the state bodies have signalled that their possibilities for intervention are limited, since the problem of rRyanair's interruption of the Pafos-Athens route concerns the company and the Greek state, the voices of the Paphians are becoming more and more insistent. This has acted as a "catalyst" for organised performances by both citizens' groups to the decision-making centres and by members of parliament.
