PAPHOS - THE INSTALLATION OF SENSORS FOR SMART PARKING SPACES BEGINS - Disruption expected 29-30 August as spaces sectioned off so sensors can be installed

One of the most important and innovative projects in Pafos that will lead the city to the new digital era, that of creating smart parking spaces, is entering the orbit of implementation.

For the purpose of installing the sensors of the system of smart management of the premises, the Municipality of Pafos announces that from Sunday, August 29 at 6.00 p.m., until Monday, August 30 at 6.00 p.m. the parking area behind the Municipal Library will be closed as will the spaces on 25th Martiou Street, 50 spaces in the parking lot behind the former Pafos Police Department and the spaces on Grigoris Afxentiou Street from the side of the 1st Kindergarten of Pafos.

From Monday, August 30 at 6.00 p.m. until Tuesday at 6.00 p.m. another 50 spaces will be closed in the parking lot behind the former Pafos Police Department and the spaces on Grigoris Afxentiou Street on the side of the Dimitri Primary School of Pafos.

The project of installing and maintaining a smart parking management system has a total budget of approximately €916,000 and will have an implementation duration of 7 months for its supply, installation and operation and 8 years for its maintenance. It is implemented in full coordination with the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy and has been selected for funding from the European Funds.

The project involves the management of 3,300 parking spaces in organized areas and by-stands using sensors at each location. There will be a mobile phone application through which the public will be informed about the available parking spaces at their points of interest, as well as about the payment of parking fees.
