PAPHOS - 4 PROJECTS CLASSIFIED AS 'HYPERLOCAL IMPORTANCE'

In the assessment that the new study recommended by the EBE Paphos in relation to the airport road – Esousas will allow the implementation of the project, the Director of the EBE Paphos Marinos Stylianou made.

In a statement, Mr. Stylianou said that the Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry had set the priorities of 3-4 projects that are classified as "hyperlocal importance" and which he constantly promotes through contacts with both Ministers and competent government agencies.

He also said that in their last meeting with the Minister of Transport the Ministry accepted the proposal of the Paphos Chamber with regard to the Airport-Eousa road.

The proposed new route, Mr. Stylianou said, reassures the relevant departments that brought the objections such as the Hunting Service and the Department of the Environment. He also added that the new road network avoids the Natura area and the impact of the river bed is limited to a minimum after the narrowest point of the bed has been selected.

He added that a new special ecological assessment study is underway and is expected to be completed in the coming months.

At the same time, he said, "we are promoting the implementation of the Tombs of the Kings project up to Potima," adding that the regulatory plan has gone through the traffic control body, some tweaking is expected and will be forwarded by the Department of Urban Planning and Housing to the Department of Public Works to begin construction projects.

Regarding the progress of the design of the Tombs of the Kings – Coral Bay road, Mr. Stylianou said that for this road, the updated regulatory plan and the required studies (environmental and noise pollution) have been completed and has been put before the Department of Traffic Studies for consideration.

After the completion of the above will be entrusted by the Department of Public Works to a private scholar, the preparation of the construction plans, he added.

For Paphos Marina, Mr. Stylianou said that the S.E.C. is meticulously involved in this work. Then he said the decision of the Bid Review Authority would proceed the award of the offer with the successful bidder to start the study concerning the combined development in the Potima area concerning the cruise boat reception infrastructure and the Paphos Marina.

He also said that the EBE has been informed that after 1-2 months the project of Paphos - Chrysochous Town road will begin.
