OSAC - RESEARCH ON THE SOCIAL PROFILE OF VACCINATION IN CYPRUS

A large social study is under way by scientists of the "Let's talk about it" of OSAK, which aims to create the social profile of vaccination in Cyprus, according to the Federation of Patients Associations of Cyprus (OSAK).

The aim of the research team, headed by Professor Konstantinos Fellas, Senior Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nicosia and Member of the Advisory Scientific Committee (EES), is "to complete as many questionnaires as possible in order to record, with greater clarity, the views and perceptions of citizens around vaccines and vaccination".

It adds that the results of the research will be a tool in the hands of scientists and the Ministry of Health to draw up actions aimed at meeting the real needs of citizens in terms of their proper information, concerns and/or fears.

In addition, the OSAC says the research contributes to a better record and understanding of the phenomenon of citizens' misinformation, in terms of safety and health.

It also states that the survey is carried out by telephone conversations (by random selection of telephone numbers and anonymously), in which citizens are invited to answer specific questions and via an electronic questionnaire, to the relevant link again anonymously.

OSAK notes that scientific collaborators in the research are Dr. Konstantinos Tsioutis, Member of the EES, Dr Christos Petrou, Consultant of the Ministry of Research. Health for vaccination issues and Petros Petrikkos, PhD Candidate, University of Nicosia.

Finally, OSAK states that the research is carried out by the University of Nicosia and the collection of data by the IMR of the University of Nicosia and has received positive approval of an opinion from the National Bioethics Committee of Cyprus.
