New research into the origin of the coronavirus from the U.S. Republican party confirms that the virus leaked from the lab at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, according to the New York Post.
According to the report published, the coronavirus escaped from the lab before September 12, 2019. The report's authors also speak of the "greatest cover-up of all time".
The report showed that "the majority of the evidence confirms that all roads lead" to the lab where they investigate bats, which had been considered a source of the pandemic, according to the republican head of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Michael McCall.
"We believe the virus leaked in late August or early September 2019," McCall said.
"When they realized what happened, Chinese Communist Party officials and Institute scientists began to furiously cover up the leak and deactivated their database of viruses in the middle of the night, even asking for more than $1 million for additional security," he added.
"But their cover-up was very slow - the virus was already spreading throughout the big city of Wuhan," he said of the coronavirus pandemic.
The report cited "ample evidence" that the lab's scientists - with the help of American experts and states in China and the US - were working to modify coronaviruses to infect humans, and such falsification of data could be kept secret if no research was carried out.
