With the creation of a Monument in the centre of the city, on Dionysios Solomos Square, the Municipality of Paphos will commemorate the 200th year of the Greek Revolution of 1821, celebrated this year.
Last night, the Paphos Municipal Council unanimously decided to create the Monument, at a cost of up to €100,000, and appointed a special committee to hold contacts and meetings with architects, artists and the like in order to prepare a concrete proposal.
The site for the Monument was considered to be the most suitable, since it will be flanked by the bust of our National Poet, located on the 25th of March and is in one of the most central points of the city. Implementation will begin in September.
