In fourth place among EU member states, in terms of defence spending, based on the percentage they have in the country's GDP, was our country in 2019, according to a eurostat survey.
The country with the highest expenditure for the year was Estonia and the lowest was Ireland. Greece is in second place on the list.
In 2019, EU Member States' defence spending amounted to €168.5 billion, representing 2.6% of total general government spending, equivalent to 1.2% of GDP.
Since 2014, the share of defence spending in total government spending has increased slightly, while the share of GDP has remained stable at 1.2%.
