Preparedness exercises, involving police and national guard aircraft, Ayia Napa marina boats and Ambulance Service ambulances, took place on Wednesday at the marina.
A written communication states that "Ayia Napa Marina is not only a pioneering development project but also a project with excellent infrastructure to offer to the community and to the needs of our country in any exceptional situation".
It is added that "within this framework today the official opening of the marina helicodrome took place with the conduct of patient air ambulance preparedness exercises, with the participation of two police and national guard helicopters, ambulances of the Ambulance Service and boats of the marina Ayia Napa".
According to the communication "the whole process was designed and coordinated by the Search and Rescue Coordination Centre of the Republic of Cyprus which is an organisation – a model at national and international level in the design and management of emergencies at sea".
