AT 110% OF NORMAL RAINFALL IN THE FIRST 14 DAYS OF AUGUST

The average rainfall rose to 110% of the normal rainfall for the month of August from 1 to 09.00 on 14 August 2021, according to preliminary data released by the Department of Meteorology.

According to the data, the average amount of rainfall from the 1st to the morning of August 14th was 3.2mm or 110% of the normal, compared to 2.9mm, which is the average normal amount of rainfall for the month.

The largest amount of rainfall during the same period occurred in Lythrodontas with 45 mm corresponding to 1500% of the normal rainfall for the area, followed by the Bridge of Panagia with 15 mm corresponding to 1000% of the normal rainfall for the region, Athienou with 19 mm with 760% of the normal rainfall and the Stavros tis Psokas with 11.5 mm to 240% of the normal rainfall for the area.

However, according to preliminary data, in several areas such as Nicosia (Athalassa area), New Limassol Port, Paphos Airport, Polis Chrysochous, Pano Panagia, Platania, Saita, Xylotymbou and Frenaros, there was no rainfall at all with 0% of normal.
