Four new deaths and another 525 new cases of COVID-19 disease announced on Friday by the Ministry of Health in Cyprus.
The four deaths bring the total number of deaths to 437.
292 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 96 are in serious condition. 90.07% of nurses have no history of vaccination.
A total of 59,278 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
525 (positivity rate: 0.89%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 104,994.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The four people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:
- Man, aged 77, who ended up on August 5 at Limassol General Hospital.
- Woman, aged 91, who ended up today at Larnaca General Hospital.
- Male, aged 71, who ended up today in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Man, aged 90, who ended up today at Limassol General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 437, of which:
- 286 men (65%), and
- 151 women (35%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.1 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 292 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospitals, 96 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 96 patients in serious condition, 48 are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 45 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 59,278 diagnoses currently carried out, 7,385 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 51,893 using the antigen rapid test, 525 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 9 cases of 3,419 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 126 cases out of 3,727 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 18 cases from 239 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 291 cases from 35,248 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 81 cases from 16,645 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.

113 new incidents in the occupied territories
The occupied territories announced 113 new cases of coronavirus detected through 16,517 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
As transmitted, of these two come from abroad, 18 are contacts of other confirmed cases and 93 are local transmissions. Of these, 24 were found in occupied Nicosia, in Kyrenia 33, in occupied Famagusta 32, in occupied Morfou 2 and 2 other incidents in Trikomou.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 12,290 cases and 40 deaths have been recorded in areas not controlled by the Republic of Cyprus.
