419 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH - Friday

One person died in the last 24 hours due to coronavirus, while the Ministry of Health announced another 419 new cases.

Specifically:

  • One person died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 455.
  • 259 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 92 of whom are in serious condition. 83.1% of nurses have no history of vaccination.
  • 11 post-COVID patients who ceased to be infectious (declassified cases) continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in the Intensive Care Unit of Limassol General Hospital.
  • A total of 54,173 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 419 (positivity rate: 0.77%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 108,306.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

  • Man, aged 90, who ended up on August 12 at Famagusta General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 455, of which:

  • 297 men (65%), and
  • 158 women (35%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 259 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 92 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 92 patients in serious condition, 45 are intubated, seven are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 40 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 54,173 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,344 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 47,829 using the antigen rapid test, 419 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 7 cases from 2,774 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 66 cases out of 3,362 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 15 cases from 208 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 247 cases from 30,800 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 84 cases from 17,029 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
