401 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH, SATURDAY

The death of yet another COVID-19 patient and 401 new cases was announced on Saturday by the Ministry of Health. The positivity rate is 0.74%.The person who died is a woman, aged 74 years, who ended up today at the Limassol General Hospital. The total number of deaths is 456. The total number of cases is 108,707.

In addition, 244 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 87 are in serious condition. 81.97% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.

Thirteen post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases) continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.

A total of 54,496 tests were performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

Of the 456 patients who died, 297 are men (65%), and 159 are women (35%). The average age of those voted by the disease is 77 years.

Of the 87 patients who are in serious condition, 47 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 36 in an Increased Care Unit.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The one person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concerns:

  • A woman, aged 74, who ended up today at the Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 456, of which:

  • 297 men (65%), and
  • 159 women (35%).

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 244 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 87 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 87 patients who are in serious condition, 47 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 36 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 54,496 diagnoses performed today, 6,857 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 47,639 by the antigen rapid test, 401 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 53 cases from 409 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 10 cases from 3,066 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 99 cases from 3,181 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 4 cases from 108 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1 case from 93 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 151 cases from 28,921 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 83 cases from 18,718 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
