Five people have died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 475, according to the Health Ministry's announcement.
At the same time, 201 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 77 are in serious condition. 83.09% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
14 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
A total of 48,060 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 311 (positivity rate: 0.65%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 110,829.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The five people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concern:
- A man, aged 82, who ended up on August 19th at Larnaka General Hospital.
- A man, aged 53, who ended up on August 19 at Nicosia General Hospital.
- A man, aged 88 years, who ended up today at Larnaka General Hospital.
- A man, aged 64, who ended up today at Nicosia General Hospital.
- A man, aged 57, who ended up today at Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 475, of which:
- 306 men (64%), and
- 169 women (36%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 77 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 201 patients of the COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 77 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 77 patients who are in serious condition, 45 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 28 are in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail, the situation in the hospitals is the following:
C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 48,060 diagnoses performed today, 7,075 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 40,985 by the antigen rapid test method, 311 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 7 cases from 3,493 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 70 cases from 3,345 samples taken through private initiative.
- 20 cases from 228 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 141 cases from 24,603 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 73 cases from 16,382 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 9 samples taken as part of a check in closed structures.
In detail, the rapid antigen tests through the ministry of health's program were carried out today as follows:
