277 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH, SUNDAY

One person, aged 52, died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 422.

301 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 86 are in serious condition. 89.85% of those in hospital have no history of vaccination.

A total of 23,254 molecular (PCR) and antigen rapid test tests have been carried out, of which 277 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified, bringing the total number of cases to 102,223.

The positivity rate is 1.19%.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

  • Man, aged 52, who ended up yesterday in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 422, of which:

  • 277 men (66%), and
  • 145 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.2 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 301 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 86 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 86 patients in serious condition, 42 are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 41 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 23,254 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,218 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 17,036 using the antigen rapid test, 277 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 4 cases from 27 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 12 cases from 4,481 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 96 cases from 1,627 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 6 cases from 59 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 37 cases from 1,932 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 122 cases from 15,104 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 24 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
