Another six deaths were announced today by the Ministry of Health, while the new positive cases reached 193.
Specifically:
- Six people have died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 483.
- 194 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 76 are in serious condition. 82.99% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
- 16 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
- A total of 32,091 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 193 (positivity rate: 0.60%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 111,333.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The six people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concern:
- A woman, aged 75, who ended up today in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- A woman, aged 62, who ended up today in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- A man, aged 96, who ended up today at Nicosia General Hospital.
- A woman, aged 88, who ended up today at Nicosia General Hospital.
- A man, aged 85, who ended up today at Paphos General Hospital.
- A man, aged 76, who ended up today at the Famagusta General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 483, of which:
- 310 men (64%), and
- 173 women (36%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 77 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 194 patients of the COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 76 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 76 patients who are in serious condition, 37 are intubated, seven are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 32 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 32,091 diagnoses performed today, 6,384 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 25,707 by the antigen rapid test method, 193 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 6 cases from 4,319 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 18 cases from 1,894 samples taken through private initiative.
- 7 cases from 152 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 76 cases from 11,796 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 86 cases from 13,911 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 19 samples taken as part of a closed structure check.
