THE FOUR MEN WHO DIED IN THE FIRE AT ODOS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED

Examinations were completed today to identify the four men who died in the fire in the mountainous area of Larnaca last weekend, 03-04 July. The four men have been identified by the scientific method of testing genetic material – DNA.

They are Maged Nabil Younan Ragheb, 23 years old, Marzouk Shohdy Marzouk Attia, 39 years old, Ezzat Salama Youssef Salama, 36 years old and Samwiel Milad Farouk Elyas, 22 years old, whose bodies are expected on Saturday, July 10, to be transported to their country of origin, Egypt, for burial.

The charred bodies of the four men were found last Sunday morning in a difficult area of the village of Odos that had been hit by the fire. They were spotted by a rescue team operating in the area to locate them after they went missing following the outbreak of the fire in the mountainous Larnaca region last Saturday.

Due to the condition of the four bodies, the identification had to be done by comparing genetic material obtained from their relatives.

The circumstances of the deaths of the four men from Egypt are being investigated by the Larnaca T.E.A.
