TALKING ABOUT THE CLIMATE CRISIS

Cyprus Mail 20 July 2021 - by Eleni Philippou

Simply talking about the climate crisis may not seem like enough, and in all honesty, it’s not but it’s a starting point to raise awareness and fully understand how it affects us both locally and globally. This is what the Cypriot platform Avli is all about – addressing the climate crisis and its intersections of peace in Cyprus. As such, the Avli team will gather at Home for Cooperation on Wednesday to discuss, craft and organise and they invite anyone curious or passionate to join them.

The event starts at 6.30pm and is open to Avli team members and anyone interested in joining the platform or simply learning more about its vision. “We are a platform that is looking towards the future of Cyprus,” says Avli’s website, “looking to educate and discuss what climate change will mean for Cyprus, the Eastern Mediterranean region and the world, and what we can do to transform our island into a place that is ready for that future.

“We are looking to educate Cypriots about the stakes and effects of climate change on our island. We aim to be a platform that invigorates thoughtful discussion on the future of Cyprus, and how we can move our island forward and prepare it for the future.”

Those interested in joining Wednesday’s event should register soon by messaging the platform on Facebook as places are limited due to Covid restrictions.
