A contract with a total value of 476,000 euros was signed between the Mayor of Paphos, Phaedon Phaedon, and the CEO of Logicom Solutions Ltd, Chrysostomou Kritiotis, for the implementation, operation and maintenance of a low power wireless network of type LoRaWAN® for the Municipality of Paphos. The contract provides for a six-month implementation of the project, with 8 years of operation and maintenance.
The network will be the common infrastructure on which the operation of IoT (Internet of Things) and "Smart City" applications will be based, which will be developed by the Municipality of Paphos, as it will allow the interconnection and communication of sensors-devices with their respective applications, for example, the application that is directly to be implemented for "smart parking". The LoRaWAN network® is an ideal choice in this case, as it provides ultra low power and long range, ensuring the longest possible battery life for devices, the interconnection of thousands of devices with a small number of routers and low operating costs in the long run.
During the signing of the contract, the Mayor of Paphos, Mr. Phaedon Phaedon, stressed that the goal of the local authority is the proper and fast service of the citizen and the proper functioning of the Municipality through eGovernment. The Municipality, he added, achieved with systematic work the transition to digitalization and proceeds with substantial steps in the implementation of projects and actions, such as the "Smart Parking" System, the Development and Maintenance of a Geographical Information System (GIS), the "Smart Water Management" System, etc.
For his part, the CEO of Logicom Solutions Ltd, Mr. Chrysostomos Kritiotis, expressed his congratulations to the Mayor of Paphos and by extension to the Municipality for the efforts it is making to integrate Paphos into the new digital age and assured of the Company's commitment to the successful completion of the project within the planned schedules.
