The tenders for the part of Paphos-Polis Chrysochous road by Giolou, which has suffered subsidence for two years, have not been cancelled, but the Tender Review Authority is asking the competent Department of Public Works to re-evaluate them.
As the 'F' reveals today, this practically means that tenders are not cancelled and it is not necessary from the outset to reschedule the procedure, but only to re-evaluate the existing tenders submitted, which means a significant time gain for public works and affected citizens.
Our information was confirmed by the Member of Parliament for Paphos of DIKO, Chrysanthos Savvides, who said that he had contacts today in the Department of Public Works from which this development actually occurs.
"Contrary to what had been made public in the previous period," stressed Mr Savvides, "it is revealed today that the Review Authority did not cancel the offers to repair the road by Gioulou. Tenders are also considered to be active at the table, but the Authority considered that their evaluation on the part of Public Works was suffering. That is why he called for their reassessment and ultimately for the award, which implies a very positive timetable, so that corrective work can begin much earlier than we had so far estimated on the basis of the initially incorrect information."
This development may mark the completion of the process of awarding tenders in a relatively short period of time, concluded the MP Paphos of DIKO, which will solve a major problem that hundreds of travellers from the region have had to deal with every day for two years, thousands of visitors to the Polis area, but also the entire community of Giolou.
