A lump sum to be paid as direct initial assistance to those affected by the fires of 26 June in Tala and 3 July in the mountainous areas of Larnaca and Limassol, was handed over to the Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos Provincial Administrations by the Ministry of interior.
According to a written statement by Deputy Government Representative Niobe Parisianou on aid to the fire-affected, payments to those affected may begin as of today.
Tomorrow the deadline for submitting applications relating to the financial assistance projects of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment expires. Affected people can submit the relevant forms to the local Provincial Agricultural Offices. Compensation payments to farmers will begin later this week.
According to Ms. Parisianou, from the very first moment the Government responded immediately and activated all the Services, with the aim of inventorying and assessing the damage.
