Filenews 16 July 2021 - by Dora Christodoulou

Initial assessments by the authorities that the death of the man who was charred in his car in the early hours of Thursday morning in Anarita were due to a criminal act were confirmed by the autopsy carried out at Nicosia General Hospital. Forensic experts Angeliki Papetta who carried out the autopsy found three wounds to the abdomen, which came from a firearm.

Officially, the man's body has not yet been identified, since advanced carbonation did not allow him to be identified during yesterday's procedure either, although the coroner Marios Matsakis, on behalf of the family of a person from Limassol who is believed to be the person found in the car, was also present at the autopsy.

Police are waiting to identify him with DNA based on toxicology results.

Following the conclusion of the autopsy, the Paphos T.E.A. is now formally investigating a premeditated murder case. In this context, the reception of deposits from Paphos and Limassol continued for a second day, and witness material is expected to be obtained.

The investigations focus on a 60-year-old person, with activities in Limassol.

The examinations are continued by the T.E.O. Paphos.
