Filenews 11 July 2021

200 people were found outside a premises in Limassol and attacked police officers when they asked them for SafePass.

In particular, members of OPE Limassol went to the premises and spotted placed tables around which there were around 200 people gathered, with most not sitting at the tables, not respecting the safety distances while some danced on the sidewalk.

At the same time, in an attempt by members of the Force to check the premises and the regulars whether they were in possession of Safepass, they began shouting and complaining about the police presence there, causing concern. Some of them moved menacingly towards the members, encircling and pushing them with their hands, shouting at them to leave the place, obstructing the members in the performance of their duties and cursing them. At one point one of the bystanders threw a glass at the front of a police vehicle, which was parked in front of the premises. Soon after, the members of the Force closed the premises and the regulars departed.

For the above case, 4 arrest warrants were issued and the owner of the premises was charged with violating the Law on Infectious Cleansing and of transmitting recorded music without permission.
