The Ministry of Health on Friday announced 895 new cases of COVID-19 disease identified by molecular (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 96,202. The positivity rate recorded is 1.17%.
According to the competent Ministry on Wednesday, no deaths of patients with a final cause of death of COVID-19 were recorded and therefore the total number of deaths remains 398.
As noted 254 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 63 are in serious condition. 88.2% of nurses have no history of vaccination.
In addition, a total of 76,273 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 398, of which:
- 264 men (66%), and
- 134 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.2 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 254 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospital, 63 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 63 patients in serious condition, 29 are intubated in an Intensive Care Unit and 34 are in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 76,273 diagnoses currently carried out, 9,001 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 67,272 using the antigen rapid test, 895 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 45 cases from 722 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 2 cases from 3,417 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 192 cases from 4,467 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 15 cases from 302 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 3 cases from 93 samples taken under the referral program by Personal Physicians and Special Teams Control through Public Health Clinics.
- 85 cases from 2,930 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 553 cases from 64,342 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.
In detail, the rapid antigen detection tests were carried out today as follows:
