851 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH, MONDAY

One person died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 404, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

270 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 76 of whom are in serious condition; 85.5% of those hospitalized have no history of vaccination.

A total of 71,959 molecular (PCR) and antigen rapid test tests have been performed and 851 positive people have been found in the virus (positivity rate: 1.18%).

It is noted that, as reflected in the rapid test results, the detection of crown cases in nursing homes continues, as 13 other cases have been identified today.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

  • Woman, aged 74, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 404, of which:

  • 266 men (66%), and
  • 138 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.3 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 270 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 76 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 76 patients in serious condition, 31 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 43 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 71,959 diagnoses currently carried out, 8,272 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 63,687 using the antigen rapid test, 851 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 16 cases from 273 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 13 cases from 3,428 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 219 cases out of 4,009 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 23 cases from 275 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 2 cases from 287 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through public health clinics.
  • 55 cases from 2,435 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 523 cases from 61,252 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.
