832 NEW CASES, MONDAY

The Ministry of Health announces that today 12 July 2021 there were no deaths of patients due to coronavirus, while 832 are new cases and 153 patients COVID-19 (139 yesterday Sunday) in hospitals.

specifically:

  • No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 380.

  • 153 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 40 are in serious condition.

  • A total of 59,764 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

  • 832 (positivity rate: 1.39%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 85,104.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 380, of which:

  • 254 men (67%), and
  • 126 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.3 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 153 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 40 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 40 patients in serious condition, 16 are intubated, one is hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 23 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 59,764 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,365 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 53,399 using the antigen rapid test, 832 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 7 cases from 272 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 12 cases from 3,203 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 92 cases from 2,392 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 21 cases from 312 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1 case of 186 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through public health clinics.
  • 25 cases from 718 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 674 cases from 52,681 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.
