789 NEW CASES, THREE DEATHS, SATURDAY

Three people died due to coronavirus, while another 789 new cases were detected according to the announcement by the Ministry of Health.

specifically:

  • Three people died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 401.
  • 259 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 69 are in serious condition. 88% of nurses have no history of vaccination.
  • A total of 74,198 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 789 (positivity rate: 1.06%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 96,991.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The three people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

  • Woman, aged 84, who ended up in Famagusta General Hospital.
  • Man, aged 67, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.
  • Woman, aged 94, who ended up in Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 401, of which:

  • 265 men (66%), and
  • 136 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.3 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 259 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 69 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 69 patients in serious condition, 28 are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 38 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 74,198 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,812 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 68,386 using the antigen rapid test, 789 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 8 cases from 2,409 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 158 cases out of 3,156 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 21 cases from 247 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 26 cases from 500 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 576 cases from 67,886 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.
