Two people died from COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 403, the Department of Health announced Sunday.
Hospitals are treated with 276 COVID-19 patients, 71 of whom are in serious condition, while 88.8% of nurses have no history of vaccination. New cases of coronavirus amount to 727, with the positivity rate at 1%.
A total of 73,053 molecular (PCR) and antigen rapid test tests have been carried out, through which 727 (positivity rate: 1%) have been identified. new cases of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of cases to 97,718.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:
- Man, aged 76, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.
- Woman, aged 83, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 403, of which:
- 266 men (66%), and
- 137 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.3 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 276 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 71 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 71 patients in serious condition, 32 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 37 are in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 73,053 diagnoses currently carried out, 7,011 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 66,042 using the antigen rapid test, 727 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 1 case of 56 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 9 cases of 4,300 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 107 cases from 2,594 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 7 cases from 52 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 32 cases from 967 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 571 cases from 65,075 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 9 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
In detail, the rapid antigen detection tests were carried out today as follows:
