No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded on Saturday, and 582 cases were detected from 48,358 detection tests. analytically:

The Ministry of Health announces that today, July 3, 2021:

  • No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 378.
  • 63 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 21 are in serious condition.
  • A total of 48,358 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 583 (positivity rate: 1.21%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 77,445.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 378, of which:

  • 254 men (67%), and
  • 124 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 63 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospitals, 21 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 21 patients in serious condition, eight are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 11 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 48,358 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,038 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 42,320 using the antigen rapid test, 583 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 61 cases from 803 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 8 cases from 2,551 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 87 cases from 2,316 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 8 cases from 152 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 21 cases from 484 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 398 cases from 41,836 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 216 samples taken as part of the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
