473 NEW CASES, THURSDAY

The Ministry of Health announces that today, 1 July 2021, no deaths of patients due to coronavirus were recorded, while 473 are the new positive cases.

Specifically:

  • No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 378.

  • 59 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 18 of whom are in serious condition.

  • A total of 37,450 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

  • 473 (positivity rate: 1.26%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 76,333.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 378, of which:

  • 254 men (67%), and
  • 124 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 59 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospitals, 18 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 18 patients in serious condition, six are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and nine are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 37,450 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,812 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 30,638 using the antigen rapid test, 473 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 45 cases from 351 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 5 cases from 3,085 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 79 cases from 3,021 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 4 cases from 235 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 12 cases from 522 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 328 cases from 30,116 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 120 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
