200 FLIGHTS READY FOR VACCINATED BRITONS

Filenews 15 July 2021 - by  Adamos Adamou

The official restart of Cypriot tourism marks the decision of the British to keep Cyprus in their orange category, despite the outbreak of cases in our country.

The review of the List of Britons became known last night, confirming market estimates that Cyprus would not be downgraded and that it would remain in the orange category. These estimates led the president of PASYXE earlier yesterday to estimate that the last ten days of July will begin the flow of tourist arrivals from Britain. Haris Loizidis, who was speaking on state radio, also said it was important to improve the epidemiological situation in order to start charter flights.

However, the scheduling of scheduled flights seems to have discounted yesterday's positive development, which was also expected at the Ministry of Tourism. In particular, airlines, on the basis of the revised schedule, dated 12 July, launched by Hermes Airports, significantly increase their routes in the next period to Cyprus. It is typically reported that flights from the UK to the country's two airports are scheduled to launch at 212 a week at the end of August, up from 38 this week. Specifically, at Larnaca airport, scheduled flights from the United Kingdom to Cyprus, from 17 this week, increase to 35 in the week of 19-25 July and 65 at the end of the month. From 2 August they increase to 95 and reach 107 after the 23rd of the month. The same scene is recorded at Paphos Airport, with regard to scheduled flights from the United Kingdom, since weekly flights are also gradually increasing from 21 this week, increasing to 86 at the beginning of August and to 105 at the end of the same month.

No quarantine

With yesterday's development, Cyprus, like other European destinations, including Greece, will be able to benefit from the British decision to lift the quarantine for those vaccinated returning from countries on their orange list. As we know, Britain has announced that from Monday 19 July - the day it comes into force and the new list announced yesterday - the 10-day quarantine for fully vaccinated and underage UK residents returning from orange countries is lifted. This decision was followed on Monday night by the revision of the Travel Directive of the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Cyprus, which also allows travellers to insure themselves against cancellations or other unexpected problems with their travel.
