A 20-year-old man was detained in Paphos for the offence of unlawful possession of property.

According to the Police on 18.7.21 at 22:00 at night, a black Mercedes-branded vehicle allegedly stolen from Nicosia was found parked in Paphos near a supermarket.

After discreet surveillance by members of the Paphos police department it appeared that a person trying to take the vehicle approached the place. The officers intervened and the man above tried to escape only to be caught a short time later nearby.

According to further examinations, this is a 20-year-old Greek Cypriot from Paphos. A search of the bag he was carrying identified and received various items such as faux-bijou, chains, bracelets and rings, three mobile phones, chargers, charger cables, perfumes, electronic speakers and headphones for which he did not give satisfactory explanations as to the legality of their possession.

He was subsequently arrested for the offence of unlawful possession of property.

The Police reportedly believe that the items found are the products of burglaries and thefts, probably from shops, and invite anyone who recognizes them to go to the police station in Paphos.

Examinations are continuing by Paphos police.
