1056 NEW CASES, FIVE DEATHS, INCLUDING A 35 YEAR OLD MAN, MONDAY

Five people died from COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 390, the Ministry of Health announced.

228 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 56 of whom are in serious condition.

A total of 69,464 molecular (PCR) and antigen rapid test tests have been carried out and 1,056 (new cases of COVID-19) have been identified, with a positivity rate of 1.52%.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The five people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

  • Male, aged 77, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
  • Male, aged 66, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
  • Man, aged 88, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.
  • Woman, aged 92, who ended up in Nicosia General Hospital.
  • Male, aged 35, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 390, of which:

  • 260 men (67%), and
  • 130 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.2 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 228 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 56 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 56 patients in serious condition, 22 are intubated in an Intensive Care Unit and 34 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 69,464 diagnoses currently carried out, 7,483 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 61,981 using the antigen rapid test, 1,056 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 27 cases from 223 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 21 cases from 3,306 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 253 cases out of 3,451 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 37 cases from 388 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 2 cases from 115 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through Public Health Clinics.
  • 82 cases from 2,054 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 634 cases from 59,927 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.
